The Friends of Africa Fund is a designated fund of Initiatives of Change UK. It funds initiatives in Africa that advance the mission of IofC. Grants are made to individuals and also in support of activities, including new ventures.

Recent activities and projects supported include:

    How applications are decided

    Guidelines for applicants note that applications will be decided according to their contribution to the purposes of the fund and overall value for money. The following considerations will be taken into account in reaching a decision:

  • The advice of the IofC team in the country concerned.
  • The advice of others who know the area.
  • The likely benefit to the individual(s)concerned.
  • Benefit in a wider context.
  • Local financial circumstances and foreign exchange issues.
  • Maintaining a fair spread of payments between different countries and different individuals.
