‘God doesn’t do waste’
Revd Dave Bookless, co-founder of A Rocha UK, will speak on ‘God doesn’t do waste’ when he addresses a Greencoat Forum in the London centre of Initiatives of Change on Tuesday 21 September. The title of his talk is taken from his new book, published this July. It refers to ecological waste but also the accumulation of life’s experiences and how we as individuals handle them. This follows his earlier book Planetwise, subtitled Dare to care for God’s world .

GLOBAL VOICES

Initiatives of Change International President, Professor Rajmohan Gandhi, was awarded an honorary doctorate of letters by UK’s Liverpool Hope University at a ceremony in Liverpool Cathedral on 13th July. The following is taken from Gandhi’s acceptance speech.

Dr Roddy Evans writes from Northern Ireland about the findings of Lord Saville’s Report on the events of ‘Bloody Sunday’. Lord Saville concluded that the 14 killed by the British Army on 30 January 1972 in Derry/Londonderry were innocent. On 15 June when the report was published, Prime Minister David Cameron, apologised in the House of Commons to the bereaved families on behalf of his Government.

David Cameron spoke for me when he said he was ‘deeply sorry’ for the ‘unjustified and unjustifiable’ killing of unarmed civilians by the British army on Bloody Sunday in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland, on 30 January 1972. Anyone who has talked with people in the Bogside area of the city where it took place will know the profound sense of injustice that inhabits them.
