One Planet Living
Sue Riddlestone and Pooran Desai, the husband and wife team who founded the award-winning BioRegional social enterprise charity, will speak on 'One planet living' at the next Greencoat Forum in the London centre of Initiatives of Change, on 15 September. Bioregional tackles climate change and sustainability by creating homes, lifestyles, services and manufacturing systems which show how we can live within our fair share of the Earth’s resources - what they call one planet living. They are particularly known for pioneering the Beddington zero carbon emissions housing development in south London. This year they were Skoll Social Enterprise Award winners at a ceremony in the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford.

“Our practical experience shows us how we really could create resource efficient regional economies where we can live healthier, happier lives. The question we pose to the audience is; how can we mainstream these and similar approaches quickly enough to save humanity from turning planet earth into something like Easter Island?”
