Across the divides…

With operations around the globe, our programmes target strategic opportunities to create change. Different situations call for different approaches but all our projects are driven by the purpose of building trust across the world’s divides. To enhance their effectiveness, programme representatives meet yearly at our international conference centre in Caux, Switzerland, together with other leading peace practitioners, officials and academics to exchange experiences and best practice. Visit the programme pages of our global website and download the program fact sheets to discover more about our varied and much needed work. For details of UK-based programmes, use the link(s) on the right. Programmes of Initiatives of Change include:

Agenda for Reconciliation (AfR)

A team of people engaged, individually or collectively, in a variety of peacemaking initiatives, whether in Britain or abroad. It grew out of a series of conferences on the same theme which took place during the 1990’s and early 2000’s at IofC’s international conference centre in Caux, Switzerland.

Creators of Peace (CoP)

An initiative from women in Africa, this informal network of men and women committed to peace-making now spans five continents and works through conferences, peace circles and community action. Download 2-page A4 factsheet (PDF, 151kb)

Farmers Dialogue

Building farmer to farmer links across national boundaries and across set ways of thinking, creating fresh perspectives for our planet's largest industry and renewing the calling of farmers to feed the world.

Schools Service

Since 1995 the Initiatives of Change schools service has done over 800 sessions in Sixth Forms all over Britain. These are facilitated interactively, usually by international teams of young people. In Autumn 2007 group sizes varied from between 10 and 200 and, on average, lasted about an hour. The aim is to stimulate thought about motivation, values and purpose.
