Anam Cara

  John O’Donohue writes that in the Celtic tradition, there is a beautiful understanding of love and friendship called anam cara, literally 'soul friend'; in the early Celtic Church, a person who acted as teacher, companion and spiritual guide was your anam cara, and was also someone with whom you could share your innermost self, your mind and your heart.

"The Big Silence"

 Father Christopher Jamison, of Worth Abbey, said last night in BBC2's "The Big Silence" that "Silence is the gateway to the soul, and the soul is the gateway to God." It was part 1 of a series of three - well worth watching, at 7pm.
